ABC Scholars Helping Youth in the Community

ABC_MemorialCircleVolunteer_2_102012.jpgDuring October, the ABC scholars have managed to find time in their busy schedules to volunteer in the community. Fatouma, Jazz and Ariel are working as volunteer tutors at Andover's Memorial Circle Community Center as part of The New Horizons after school homework program. In the homework program, the ABC scholars help children in grades K to 8 with their homework as well as playing games. The kids were so taken with Fatouma, that they made her thank you notes.

Felicia volunteers at Esperanza Academy in Lawrence where she tutors middle school students. Esperanza Academy is a middle school that is committed to providing urban families with high quality education. This past summer Felicia worked as an intern in a three-week program at Esperanza Academy and was so widely loved by the students that the Director invited her back to continue on during the school year as a mentor and academic tutor!
