Honoring Martin Luther King

A Better Chance of Andover again honored Martin Luther King day with words of inspiration from our alums and volunteers across Andover’s faith communities. One of the highlights of the weekend was during the Sunday service at South Church, where current Scholar Kiarra Lucas performed her Spoken Word poem. This poem inspired us with words like

“dreams don’t die but reignite and survive for generations to come.”

Listen to Kierra perform her original poem.

We were also touched by A Better Chance of Andover Alum participation: Alums and Board members Nikelle King ’96 and Mark Ayers ‘69 spoke at South Church and Beth Israel respectively, Alums Caridad ‘96 and Elly Bianco Rowe ‘98 spoke at Faith Lutheran Church and at Ballardvale United Church. Other board members also participated, with Board President Bonnie Zahorik speaking at Temple Emanuel with Alum Will Arvelo ‘79 and Katarina Curtin, an ABC Alum herself, sharing her story at Christ Church. It was amazing to have our strong community present during this significant holiday.
