Scholars arrived on the weekend of August 27-28th. After a busy summer of enrichment, including Savannah College of Art and Design, High School Drama Institute at Catholic University, and Brown University’s summer program, our Scholars were excited to return for the school year and to welcome new scholars Mané and Tanijah. Following move-in and some initial orientation, the scholars started school just before Labor Day weekend.

During the long weekend Amy and Al Joyall hosted the scholars for a day at their lake house— an ABC of Andover tradition. The Joyall’s lake house is a warm and welcoming environment and there is plenty to keep everyone busy! Kayaks, paddle boats, and stand-up paddle boards kept everyone active on the lake, and on land there was time for ping pong and shooting hoops. The Scholars went for a wild ride with Al in his motor boat, along with enjoying a more calm excursion in a pontoon boat tour of Little Lake Sunapee. To cap off a busy day, everyone enjoyed s’mores by the fire pit.
